Unfortunately no, the phone feature on "Quick Tools" cannot check for such format. I have added your request to our feature suggestions list. Thanks.

This request was made in 2010 and the feature of formatting phone field is still not available. I collect a great deal of phone number information on my registration form and waste a lot of time formatting these fields when downloaded to Excel. People these days expect auto-formatting of the phone field.
Are you going to implement this feature?

I do apologize about the inconveniences you have had due to lacking of this feature. Our developers team keeps busy fixing and improving feature based upon priorities. However your inquiry regarding to the status of this request has been forwarded.
In the meantime, let me advice you to implement a format while on your downloaded excel file. You can set up something like this:
In order to accomplish this, you might need to change the hint example of your embedded form to "4107390456" , and also advice on a label to not use a hyphen nor parenthesis.
Hope this helps a little bit your issue

This is a tough problem because of different types and lengths of phone numbers. We do not plan to add such a strict requirement for phone numbers at this time. But if you use the Phone number field under Quick Tools on the form builder, you should help with the formatting.
