I want my form to place a cookie with a field entry so my customers name is remembered and automatically placed in the form each time he/she visits

Asked by TheSpecial on June 17, 2012 at 06:30 PM

I have a one click order form for returning customers. There is a heading an entry field for their username and a button to submit.

The first time they visit they have to put in their username in the field and click submit.

The next time I want their username remembered and automatically placed in the field so all they have to do is click to submit.

I guess that requires 2 things. That the field <username> is placed as a cookie on their computer and some function that queries for a cookie and if found automatically fills the field.

But I don't know how to do it. Please explain the steps I need to take.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Do you have this form already? Can you please provide us the form ID# for it.

Adding a custom function such as what you need will require embedding the form source code into the website. Do you also have the URL for the website where the form will be used?

Pardon my inquisition, I did check your forms and I could not find the 1 click form that have 'username' or name after a header. What I found was for the email account instead.

Automatically capturing and storing an email account data may have complications... i.e. if the form/website was access on a public facility, it may be able to capture a different information and not of the actual requiring customer.

Perhaps we should modify the form functionality also to capture and store only a proper name which is required to be provided by a user/customer the first time.

    Will await for your response.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I have a similar requirement, I want to identyfy my returning customers, so they do not have to fill the complete form everytime... just the email id should suffice, after verification, I want all the customer details to be mailed to me + goes to the XL sheet as well !

how can this be achieved ?

    Regards, GX
