How can I setup a condition to populate another field?

Asked by domicu on March 01, 2017 at 11:25 AM

What if I have a dropdown in one field, and would like the value selected to auto-populate the next field? Does the selected value in field 1 count as Filled?

Have not set up the second field yet, but would like to if I can automatically generate a value for it....re. Page 4, Preliminary Module Plan

From how you described it, you're asking if a value is selected in a Dropdown Field, is it considered or counted as FILLED, correct?

If so, then yes your understanding is correct. As soon as an option is selected on a Dropdown, it will be counted as FILLED, which will then trigger a DO action if you have a corresponding Condition for it.

Thanks for your response. Here's the next dilemma: based on the value selected in the dropdown, i want to retrieve whatever value has been entered previously. Example: I select Objective 1, it fetches that. I select sub-objective 3.4, it fetches that value. etc

Based from your example, I think you may consider to use the Dynamic Dropdown Widget that allows you limit dropdown values based on your answer to the first dropdown. It allows you to select  from the second dropdown list depending on what you have selected from the first dropdown.

Hi and thanks….so this is the core of the dilemma: I have 30 or more values that could be selected, so how can I “tell” the system to fetch the one actually selected? These are the only options I can see...and they require selecting a specific field's value ahead of time...30+ times. Please advise

    Hi there,

I am not quite sure if I understand your requirement correctly.

I have 30 or more values that could be selected, so how can I “tell” the system to fetch the one actually selected?

    - By "fetch", do you mean you have a field where user can enter a value and retrieve data from your submissions and display it in your form?

I am trying to figure out by looking at your form but can you please give us a scenario showing how it should work?

We will wait for your response.
