Is there any way to validate a special required field?

Asked by Christopher on June 20, 2012 at 01:39 PM

I have a text field that must be 8 characters long and must be 4 letters and 4 numbers (AAAA1111). I need this validated, is there any way to set up these special validations?

    Hi Christopher,

Unfortunately, this is not possible within Jotform. A similar question has been raised before, and was answered by our higher ups. According to them, Jotform has no plans of implementing such a feature.

Jotform is not supposed to be used as a tool for creating member registration/login forms, that is why email validation, as well as password validation, will never be included in our software.

You can implement such a function yourself by adding custom JavaScript to the form's source code. Follow the instructions below to get your form's source code. As for the custom JavaScript for the validation function, that I cannot help with anymore. I suggest you try searching the web for one.

To get your form's source codes:

    1.  Go to Setup & Embed tab
    2.  Click Embed Form
    3.  Click Source

    4.  Copy the codes provided in the succeeding screen

Hope I was able to shed some light on your question. Feel free to search or ask around the forum if you have other queries or concerns.
