When I try to disable an item in the PayPal integration it won't disable. What's the trick to making this work?

I'm sorry for the trouble caused to you.
I did test this and I am able to replicate the issue you are having. It seems the "Disable" button of product property does not seems to work. It does not disable the product.
I am reporting it to our backend team. We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them. For now, I would suggest you to please delete the product or inject custom css code to hide it.
Do get back to us if you would like to hide the specific product and we will send you the desired custom css code.

I talked this with our developers. It turns out that the Disable function is not available for products listed in the payment wizards and the button shouldn't be there to begin with.
