PayPal Pro integration with our Public Library donations form is not forwarding description information to the PayPal

Asked by Indraneel Purohit on July 17, 2012 at 03:21 PM

    Hello,

My name is Indraneel Purohit, and I am the web developer at East Brunswick Public Library.  Over the last week, I have been implementing a PayPal form for accepting odnatoins from patrons.  I used one of your forms, but I made some changes, and injected my own JavaScript to match the functionality of our old system.

I have a few issues I need help with.

First, the PayPal page that I am redirected to does not contain the payment information that is in the 'Amount of Donation' box on my form page. If you go to the form (I've linked it below, but here it is again) you can see that I have set it up so that using the choices I have provided results in the amount of donation box being populated with the appropriate amount. However, as I said, this is not reflected immediately in the first PayPal page the user is redirected to. I've included a screenshot of this. Am I doing anything wrong? Please view my source code and let me know if I'm not passing the input field's value correctly, or something to that effect. Also, I cannot seem to log into the PayPal page with a sandbox account that I have created via PayPal. No idea if this is an issue on your end because of the nature of the API credentials I had to provide while setting the form up, or if it's PayPal's own failing, but any direction here would also be greatly appreciated.

Your help is greatly appreciated, as we picked your service over another form builder and would prefer to keep it that way.

    Thanks!

    Best,

I am not quite sure but I think the problem has to do with your Paypal Pro API credentials. I mean, even the unmodified, standalone version of your form does not pass the donation amount:

Can you please double check your Paypal Website Payments Pro account credentials?

I believe they are correct... our test payments have gone through. What should I be looking for in terms of credential correctness? I did change how the value of the donation amount field gets populated with my own JavaScript, so could that be affecting the order summary page?

Also, I'm having difficulty with posting to a confirmation page that we have set up. Is there any existing tutorial for such an issue?

    (this is the OP, btw)

I do not think that the issue is relate to your Javascript. I think it is caused either by some bug in our integration or by your PayPal account settings.

This problem has been escalated to our Development Team.

As soon as we have any updates, we will let you know.

To solve the problem with your custom Thank You URL, try the following solution:

    1. Log into Paypal.

    2. Select My Selling Preferences from the Profile menu

Then Select Update for the Website Preferences:

The Auto Return option is at the top of the next page.

Hi, OP again. Sorted out some of our problems, but the cost still does not show up on the first paypal page that you see when you click submit on our form.

Also, we used up a lot of payments testing our form- could you reset these for us? Every payment conducted so far has been a test payment.

I am having the same issue with my account not passing the donation information when redirecting to PayPal. Was this issue ever figured out?

    @All

Donation amount and donation text are now being forwarded to the Paypal transaction page. Please test your form and let me know if there are any other problems.
