Change uploaded file name

We would really like to get rid of the string of numbers that get's stuck on the file name when things are uploaded to our website.  It's causing problems and it's annoying.  How can that be done?

Hi Christy, 

Unfortunately, the file upload filed cannot rename files, however, the names should appear as they were uploaded. I checked your submissions and they all have different names (original file names), can you please clarify where the names in your screenshot are appearing?
