Why is my monthly charge increased for the subscription?

    Hello,

I was just charged today for my monthly Jot Form Subscription.  I see it went up this month from $9.95 to $10.65 which seems to be the exact amount of sales tax.  I do not recall any notice saying you were now required to charge sales tax and that it would begin this month.  Can you please tell me why this is suddenly more and your web site does not indicate the amount is now "Plus tax"

I have checked your account subscription and see that the tax has been added to the subscription this month. This tax has been added by our payment processor FastSpring as per the laws applicable for the state. If you are having any exemption from state sales taxes, you may send a copy of the Exemption Certificate to FastSpring so that they may refund the sales tax.

    Hope this information helps!

why was this suddenly done?  I have had a subscription for well over a year and never saw this before.  Why this month?

As per the information provided by our payment processor earlier in a similar case, we received the following response which must be the case with your subscription.

Due to a change in tax laws we have implemented tax in certain states where we are required by law to do so.

However, I am raising this issue with our payment processor to check if it is applicable to your state as well. If there is any information in this regard, we'll update you here.

    Thanks!

While trying to raise the issue with FastSpring, I came across the following article from the FastSpring support that answers your question.

    https://support.fastspring.com/hc/en-us/articles/207436686?

Since Indiana is one of the states in the list from the article, the taxes are applied to your account. Please let us know if you are having an exemption certificate so that we can forward it to FastSpring for a refund or you may send it to support@fastspring.com with the last payment reference number.

    Thanks!

thank you.  I have sent my tax exempt certificate to the email address you indicated.  I was just surprised this was sudden.  Is Fastspring a new processor for you?

FastSpring is not a new payment processor and is associated with us since a long time. I think the payment processor had to apply this due to any changes in the taxing laws of the state.

Since you have already sent the tax exemption certificate to them, please let us know if you need any further assistance with this issue. We will be happy to assist.
