Is it possible to change the format of the Date Picker field?

Hi, when adding the calendar tool (e.g. for adding birthday dates from consumers), it shows the American standard, e.g. month/day/year. In Germany, the standard format is day/month/year. When consumers put it in manually without using the calendar tool (which is in English only), I get wrong input. Is there a way of changing this?
