I need to have users select their first choice and then select a second choice, but need to limit the second choices to exclude the option selected as their first choice. For example First Choice is class 1, Second Choice options would only be class 2, and class 3

    Hi bhinshaw,

Here is a form that does what you are looking for.  You would need four drop down lists and then set the conditions to show the correct dropdown according to the answer of the user.  Hope it helps!

That helps but doesn't really provide the functionality I was looking for. I could have numerous options in a list and it creates multiple columns in the responses file. I'd really like it to have a response with columns first choice, second choice.

Would it be better to create this with radio buttons and apply logic to say that if you checked first choice, class 1 you can't check second choice, class 1?

    Hi bhinshaw,

Have you looked at the matrix field?

I think it may provide you with the functionality that you need.  Let me know if that helps!

Matrix field helped with the input side. I used radio buttons with the row names are first choice, second choice and the columns are the class options they can only select 1 item from first choice and 1 item in second choice.

The response side is a challenge as each column in the matrix becomes a response column. I'll have to work on the excel side to clean that up.

    Thanks for your guidance
