How can I sort a report on 2 columns (ie date column then name)?

Asked by dmichaels on January 27, 2011 at 10:37 AM

Can I sort by 2 columns?

Can I concatenate 2 values into another field (hidden)?

    Thanks,

It is not possible to sort reports by 2 columns. If this is possible on Excel, you should probably get an Excel report and do the sorting there.

I have the report displaying below the form on my web page. This way, users can see how others who came beofre them have responded and they can see their submission become part of the data.

The Excel report and the Visual Report Builder can both be sorted, but only if you get the user to click the column heading when it opens in their browser. Initially, data is displayed in the order in which it was received. My users are now all that sophisticated and I know I'll bew getting complaints if I can't present the table already sorted by at least one (if not 2) columns.

Any chance of being able to specify a sort order during design and have it retain the specification?

    Thanks,

    David

Interestingly, it seems the behavior of the report column headings has changed. If you click on one column to sort it and then, while holding the shift key, click another heading, the report will then sort on the second column as well - like a secondary sort key.

This is great! Now if only the report could be presented this way instead of needing to click the headings.
