We are sorry for this inconvenience.
I checked the date field on a demo form and I can confirm that the date format both on submission page and on the notification email is in MM/DD/YYYY format even though the only format for date field on New Form Layout is DD/MM/YYYY.
I escalated this problem to our developers. Once the problem is fixed, you will be notified via this thread.
Thank you in advance for your understanding.

The presentation format (formats that users see when filling form submission) of date field changes based on the preferences of users. For example, while we see presentation format as dd.mm.yyyy, someone from US can view it as mm/dd/yyyy.
On the other hand, due to technical limitations, we cannot represent submission data in their presentation format. Therefore, we were using a normalized 'mm/dd/yyyy' format on submissions which has caused couple confusions when users enter in 'dd.mm.yyyy' format. To avoid these confusions, we currently changed our normalized format to 'yyyy/mm/dd' in order to at least avoid these kind of confusions.
This change will not affect your previous submission data to avoid further problems at your end (We may change them as well if you want).
We are really sorry for the inconvenience we have caused to you and for late answer.
