I am having trouble prepopulating a hidden text field. If I unhide it it works great. I do not have a problem populating hidden number fields so I am confused. Thanks for the help!

May I suggest you try and use the prepopulate app. It will ask you to show the hidden fields. Then you simply just fill them and generate a link. 

Its a great way to get all your parameters correct and really understand prepopulating fields in general.
