    Mobile image upload works sometimes

Asked by CandyStore on September 13, 2012 at 06:31 AM

    Hi Support and Community

We have a form with image upload which we want to work on mobile.

I am testing on iPhone using Opera - I am able to select image to upload but only some of the images upload some of the time.

If I view the submitted forms I get "default" in the image uplaod filed - this is the link - http://s3.amazonaws.com/jufs/CandyStore/22392622791557/213340049637564472/default

No image was uploaded called default this have happended numerous time.

If I select a different image, it uploads from mobile - however I am unable to view image in browser - www.jotform.com/uploads/CandyStore/22392622791557/213341012637374120/ee8b7e94397c6ec614fcd276edb18f09.jpg

Please advise how we can get all image to upload and be able to download them via email or from JoForm backend.

    Thanks in advance

I notice the Upload Image field is not marked as mandatory on your form.

Are you sure thats not the reason for images occasionally not being uploaded with your form?

Thanks for the reply, yes I am sure that is why image are not being uploaded.

This testing has only been completed by me, if I upload image from phone sometime it displays as default and I am unable to view or see image - http://s3.amazonaws.com/jufs/CandyStore/22392622791557/213340049637564472/default

    This is a a sucsessful image upload - www.jotform.com/uploads/CandyStore/22392622791557/213341012637374120/ee8b7e94397c6ec614fcd276edb18f09.jpg

For some reason the two URL's above look different, the correct image that was uplaoded went to www.jotform.com/uploads - the unsucsessful image was http://s3.amazonaws.com/jufs/CandyStore

What could cause this issue, we would like all image to be uplaoded to form not just some images.

    Thanks in advance

Hi, I can see the submissions you are talking about and thank you for leaving them there so that we can realistically see and investigate the issue. I cloned your form and did some testing of my own but could not reproduce the problem.

Could you please tell me when you did the test uploads for those submissions that came through as Default, what file extensions were you using for them? I see the majority of the ones that worked are .png and .jpg.

Also I would like to point out that this can happen at times because a submission error that ocasionally causes uploads to not appear due to the fact that it didnt upload to our server correctly.

Have been testing today and still get image as Default - new link - http://s3.amazonaws.com/jufs/CandyStore/22392622791557/214551693831377950/default

They are all from iPhone image camera, so .jpg

I get thankyou message after submission so should go through correctly.
Mobile browser used is Opera Mini but has worked before, getting same resualt now for all images that get uploaded, could this be an issue with this form?
Should I create new form and test, it has worked before just not recently.

    Thanks in advance

I notice that you have removed the form from the URL mentioned.

I tried testing a clone of your form and was not able to reproduce the issue.  Please let us know once you re-embed the form if the issue persists.

We'll be glad to continue working on it!

Thanks for providing us this details.

In addition to my colleage, can you please try it with "Multiple File Upload" tool? not quite sure if this helps, but worth a try.

Also, you might be interested with Filepicker.io, some mobile browsers disable regular upload buttons on online forms but with this tool, it's no longer a problem. They will also be able to upload files from integrated services such as Dropbox, Box and Gmail, Live Camera is supported as well. Hi Support

    I get different results.

I have added Both Multiple image upload and Filepicker - Filepicker.io not great for mobile.

So we have removed filepikcer.io from form and only the Multiple image upload is on form.

If I view form on PC - http://candystore.co.za/submit-listing/ - it displays the Filepicker.io but if I view on Mobile the Multiple image upload displays.

Is there some kind of cache enabled on the forms?

Our website does not cache at the moment, please could you advise why the form is not refreshing?

Could it be due to conditional logic added to form? Could this slow down the form from loading?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Support

I have removed all image upload fields and filepicker.io and the Filepicker button still displays on website.

Please advise how we can remove permanently.

Think data is still saved on JotForm server and it is not remvoed filpicker API from the code.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Support

I created a new form, so the above issue does not apply anymore - This is the embed code for the issue with Filepicker - <script type="text/javascript" src="//form.myjotform.com/jsform/22392622791557"></script>

Think it might be bug with filepicker.io just so you are aware of issue.

    Thanks for the assistance

Thank you for keeping us posted and sharing your observations, CandyStore.  We'll also try some tests based on your case.

If in case you're not able to view again your updated form on your website, you might also want to change your script src on your web page from:
