How to tranfer the client's name from one field into another field?

Hello, I am trying to use the merge tags in a long text variable but it is not resolving. It is my understanding that the results will not be shown until after the submittal. I did perform the submittal and the field was not resolved. This is the field that I am trying to resolve: Client Name and I use {{ Client Name }} in my long text variable but it did not work. I am in need of passing information from one form to another with history information.

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I’m really sorry that this is happening. I'll do my best to help you. I've checked out your Caregiver Note form. You can use the Short text field instead of the Long text field to pass the name information into the field on your Smart PDF Form. Then, using the Update, calculate field conditional logic, you can transfer the name information from one field into another one. Let me show you how:

1. Open your form in Form Builder, and in the orange navigation bar at the top of the screen, click on Add Form Element. 
2. Select the short text element, and rename it. That's it

Now, let's add this condition to pass the values from the Name field into the short text field:

IF: Client Name

STATE: Is filled

DO: Copy the field's values

FROM: Client name

TO: Name Passing Field (Short Text Field).

Save.
