Want first name and last name in separate fields, but on one line

In your templates, it says "full name", and first name and last name get lumped together into one output field.

How can I get first and last name into separate output fields, but still keep the form fields on the same line?

Using separate short entry boxes puts first and last name on different lines.

The workaround with the short text entry fields is correct. You will need to shrink them in order to put multiple fields on the same line.
