    Incomplete data transmission

Asked by NESTRANGIN on October 11, 2012 at 10:56 AM

    Hi,

from several days now (almost 1 week), we've been having problems with data transmission from the form. We have two tickboxes with "required field" option. The e-mail we receive gives the information choosed for the 1st tickbox above, but nothing from the second one, even if we crossed one tickbox.

    Could you help please?

    Cheers

    Hello,

To fix inconsistencies between email alerts and your actual form, you will have to delete your old notification and create a new one.

    1. Click on Setup & Embed > Email Alerts > Notification (or whatever its name is)
    2. In the Compose Email screen, click Delete Email
    3. After deleting, click on Setup & Embed > Email Alerts > Add New Email
    4. Choose Notification, click Next then finish the Email Alert Wizard

A new, untouched email alert will always display fields as it is displayed on the form.

Note that if you apply changes to the email alert, it will be tagged as "dirty" by the Email Wizard and will no longer be updated (to protect the changes you made).

That means whenever you apply changes to the form such as adding, deleting, rearranging, and renaming fields, those changes will not reflect on the email alert automatically. You will have to manually update the email template.

    Hope this helps.

    Hello,
ok, problem solved, thanks. However, does that mean that each time we
modify an information in the tickbox block, we'll have to do the
notification e-mail again manually? We often have to modify the
informations because this is a place where people can register to
participate in an event we organise.
    Cheers

    Hi Nicolas,

Not all the email notfications but just its settings under Tickbox Block (you name it). Some variables may also change if you will edit your form fields.

    Example:

Before you edit the address field, the email variable is {address1} then....

    After you edit the address field, the email variable has change to {address2}

So you have to change the variables in your email notifications from {address1} to {address2}.

    Thanks

If I understood well, each time I modify a block, its number (as
mentioned below) is automatically incremented. So I won't have to change
anything. Or am I wrong, and do I have to increment manually the field
number so that it's taken into account by the Email Alert Wizard?
    Cheers

    Hello Nicolas,

No you don't need to add them manually. Email variables will update itself by default unless it was switched to text format.

Try adding at least 1 field on your form and check if the field is automatically added on your email notification template, if not you have to recreate your form notification again (it's quick and easy). Usually, when the email notification template is messed up (due to editing or customizing the template styles) it sometimes failed to update. So, I think it would be wise to recheck them after saving your form.

    Thanks!
