    Freshbooks Integration - Creating Logins?

Asked by mripguru on October 14, 2012 at 12:20 PM

    Hi Folks,

I was finally able to test/integrate Freshbooks last night into my form - HOWEVER, 2 things to consider:

    1. How do I set it so that Freshbooks will automatically generate a username/password (either on it's own or via submitted form data) and send a welcome email to the new customer so they can log into their new account, etc.

    2. How do I handle existing customers with that form - since they will already have FreshBooks accounts?

    3. With my existing form - how do I get the Freshbooks State field to populate, since the form is a fill in?

(I'm talking about Freshbooks users - not account users ;) ).

    Hi,

I believe most of your questions are on the Freshbooks side. And should probably be seek out on Freshbooks.com support.

    1. How do I set it so that Freshbooks will automatically generate a username/password (either on it's own or via submitted form data) and send a welcome email to the new customer so they can log into their new account, etc.

    I found the answer here.

    2. How do I handle existing customers with that form - since they will already have FreshBooks accounts?

It should not matter because when you integrate, your main purpose was to use your account to provide invoices or integration to your Freshbook account (not your customer's account)

    3. With my existing form - how do I get the Freshbooks State field to populate, since the form is a fill in?

If you were refering to the compound field 'Full Address' State field, when you mapped the address field in the Contact form, the full address will be seen in your freshbook client screen.

I hope this help. Please inform us if you have further inquiry on JotForm.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

    1. Yes - however, can JotForm do that automatically - just like it creates new users and activates recurring profiles for them. Can it actually create web based logins for them as well?

    2. Actually - the point was to provide invoices for my customers - who I bill via FreshBooks.

    3. OK.

    Hi,

    1. In JotForm, you cannot create accounts/login form. But in an integrated Freshbook.com, as explained in freshbook help here. It is mentioned in step# 5 and 8 about how your customer/clients can be assigned a login account to check on "client view" of our freshbook integrated form.

    2. Sorry, I am confused by this.. if your customers have there own Freshbook account (which they created for their own), maybe they meant to used it to their own customers(not your customers)?

When you integrate Jotform with Freshbooks, then you will be able to provide 'invoicing' under your account. I think it does not seek for your customer's freshbook account to do that.

Thank you for updating. Inform us if you have further inquiry.

    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,

    1. Correct - and since JotForm can create clients within my FreshBooks instance - I was hoping that it could go 1 step further and actually create a login for the customer to be able to log into the portal directly, automatically (just like how you logged in to get those screengrabs).

    2. No - I'm setting up a recurring billing profile for my customers in MY freshbooks instance. Some customers may want to purchase additional services/accounts down the line and as such, JotForm will currently allocate them a second user account once they complete the process. I was hoping there's a way for it to see that there is already an account with similar credentials and just APPEND the new invoice/order onto that rather than starting a whole new profile, etc.

    Hi,

    1. It seems this is not possible within the JotForm's form builder, but I search the Freshook API documentation and found API calls that can probably do it if you have your own developing resources. You probably will have to use the form's source code plus some programming on your side.

    2. Updating an existing client profile and setting it up as a "recurring profile" could probably address this? I haven't tested on a sample transaction, but I think that is what the editing existing clien't profle and recurring profle documentation says.

    Thanks.
