I want to have a form filled with yes or no questions, some of which have a 'if yes, enter number of hours condition. I was hoping to include a spreadsheet widget at the bottom of the survey in order to give a quick summary of the answers (i.e. show all yes's or no's and a number of hours for the yes's). It needs to be in the spreadsheet wizard to so that I can do some calculations (hours*cost per hour etc).
Is it possible to use the answers generated in a form to fill a spreadsheet within the form itself?

Unfortunately, the spreadsheet widget cannot do that. The widget is used to populate fields using a passkey/code. A workaround would be to use the calculation widget to get the costs, etc. Then use our Text Field to create a summary. You can customize the text field to have a table.
In the text field, you have the option to insert field tags to show inputs in it:
Here's a demo:

Thanks, that is very helpful and I will be using that method. A further question based on the above, is it possible to add this text table to a PDF export as is? The format of this table is the way i would like data to be reported

Yes, you can include this text in the PDF output. You can even have it alone by unchecking the other fields in the submissions settings.
You need to check Show Headers and Texts in the settings to show texts, images, and headers in the PDF output:
