    Customize DropBox form embed script

    Asked by TimHelmer on October 24, 2012 at 06:35 PM

    Is it possible to access the field "formName" from the javascript parameters.

    That would make it just one form to create output to multiple folders with out having to clone forms.

    <script src="//max.jotfor.ms/min/g=feedback2" type="text/javascript">

    new JotformFeedback({

    FormName:'John-Doe',   <-------------------------------------- Here

    windowTitle:'John Doe',

    <a class="lightbox-22941909585263" style="cursor:pointer;color:blue;text-decoration:underline;">John-Doe</a>

    If I understood you correctly, you meant to use the form's source code to customize the dropbox integration process. Any customization of the form code outside the jotform form builder is not necessarily recommended. However, if you have the means and the resources to achieved the customization you need, then, you can easily do this.

    As is now, the form dropbox integration only allows 1 folder to choose during the integration process.

    Hope this help. Please inform us if you have further inquiry.

    Hi Jonathan:

    I think you may have answered my question. I wanted to bring attention tot he field marked "Here".

    That field "FormName" is not normally included in the lightbox embed code. It's just something I made up so I guess my question is, can I override the internal JavaScript variable that names the Form and so therefore is also nameing the Jotform folders?

    Hi Tim,

    I'm not quite sure if the dropbox naming is possible but you can use iframe parameters with your lightbox code to prepopulate fields. Here's a more detailed guide for that: http://www.jotform.com/help/83-Adding-parameters-in-Lightbox-and-Feedback-forms

    Thanks but I don't want to populate fields, I want to controll the form name. That name ends up being the name of the DropBox folder under e.g. JotForm/formName.

    I'm going to have hundreds of users so I don't want to manually clone a form for each one. This way I could populate the formName data with their UserName and the folder ends up being their Wordpress Username.

    It would save me a load of work.

    Is it possible to reverse engineer it?

    Hi Tim,

    Is the dropbox foldername settings not suitable? (check the last part of this guide) http://www.jotform.com/help/77-Upload-to-Dropbox-with-JotForm

    Unfortunately there's no other way for controlling the dropbox folder naming other than configuring the dropbox integration settings.

    Thanks idarktech:

    I quote:

    Uploaded files are are stored on your Dropbox account following this folder hierarchy

    --- JotForm
        --- Form Name/Title
            --- Specified Folder Name (taken from values entered in a form field)
                    Submission data PDF (same file name as folder)
                    Uploaded Files

    I'm refering to the middle level in the hierarchy. I am also using the "Specified Folder" option but that's not the one I'm trying to pass to. I want to control the "Form Name/Title" externaly. I know it's not supported but I still refuse to beleive it's impossible.

    Thanks for the clarification and for your additional details, Tim. That helps us to understand more clearly. I have now added this as a feature request to our users wishlist, though I can't add an assurance if this will be implemented sooner because our developers are the one to decide on this. We'll just let you know here once we have updates for you.

    Thanks idarktech:

    That would help. Eventually we may have thousands of cleints and I could handle them all with just one form. (not have to clone thousands of times.)
