Collect First and Last Name in separate columns

I created many websites for a nursing event we are having in two weeks. When I created the jotform sites, I specifically asked for the contact name: First name and last name. However, when I look at the submissions and attempt to download to an excel spreadsheet. The contact name is in one column with the first and last name together. In the past, I believe I have always downloaded the information and it shows the first name in one column and the last name in another column. I need to be able to separate the first and last name so I can sort by the last name. Is this possible? Am I downloading the submissions incorrectly?

Any information you are able to provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Esther,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Since the First and Last Names are being collected from a single element, I'm afraid they will be recorded under the same cell. If you would like to collect them separately, you will need to add two separate form fields. For example, adding two short text fields then labelling them:Collect First and Last Name in separate columns Image 1 Screenshot 30

After that, you can shrink both fields to show them in a single line:

Please remember to download all submissions before making any changes to the form to avoid data loss.
