    Are character restrictions alphanumeric only?

    Asked by rscrental on May 05, 2010 at 05:53 PM
    Hi, working on a form with a matrix comprised of text boxes.  I want to restrcit entry of characters to these fields so that they are alphanumeric only -- essentially no commas or other special characters should be submitted with the form.  Anything built in or suggestions on how to remove pre- or post- submission?

    Getting the data out of the matrix has been difficult so we've thrown together an Excel spreadsheet that parses through the CSV to create properly tabulated data, but extraneous commas are killing the output.

    You can add validation to matrix input fields by adding this class name to them

    Such as:

    <input class="form-textbox validate[AlphaNumeric]" type="text" size="5" name="q9_matrix[2][]" />

    if matrix is required try this

    <input class="form-textbox validate[required, AlphaNumeric]" type="text" size="5" name="q9_matrix[2][]" />

    I haven't tried this but it should work.
