When you attempt to view an encrypted submission you will be prompted to supply your private key. This is usually called "jotform.key" and can often be found in your Downloads folder.

When you upload it, it will display a success message. Then closing the dialog will decrypt your data.

If your private key is not working then we need more information:

    1) Did you ever disable/re-enable encryption for this form?

    2) Are you using the correct private key? If you have multiple encrypted forms, maybe you are specifying the private key of a different form.

    3) Have you tried decryption using a different browser? Please try that.

    1) It means that you need to use the correct key to decrypt the submission. Try to use the old key. Also, use the Incognito mode when testing.

    2) You have now multiple keys after disabling and enabling the encryption feature.

Could you please provide us the form link so we can check it further?

How do I go about locating and downloading an old key?

Every encrypted form private key you create is unique.

If you have created multiple private key, they are all different. This means that even if you create and download a new private key now, you will still not be able to use the new private key to view the already existing data of the form that uses the old private key.

You must find the private key of the existing submissions to be able to view the existing data.

There is no other way to this except using the original/old private key to the existing submissions. The new private key will only work for new submissions.
