    Hello Pgctreasdisbursements,

Thanks for contacting Jotform Support. We have a Spreadsheet to Form widget that you can use to import your data, but it won't work on your Dynamic Dropdown, also the selections on your Dropdown field should already been predefined. Let me show you how to use it:

    1. Create a spreadsheet that includes your data in the structure you see below. It's important that the column names in the spreadsheet and field names on the form are the same.

    2. In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu on the left side of the page.

    3. Under the Widgets tab, search for the Spreadsheet to Form widget and add it to your form.

    4. In the Widget Settings window that opens up, upload your data file and customize the other options.

To upload an Excel file as the source data for a dropdown field or dynamic dropdown widget, you can follow these general steps:

    Prepare the Excel File:

Ensure that your Excel file contains the data you want to use for the dropdown options. Typically, this data should be organized in a single column without any empty rows or columns. You can include headers for each column if needed.

    Save the Excel File:

Save your Excel file in a format that is compatible with your application or platform. Common formats include .xls, .xlsx, or .csv. Choose a location on your computer where you can easily access the file.

Access the Dropdown Field/Dynamic Dropdown Widget Settings:

Depending on the platform or application you're using, navigate to the settings or configuration options for the dropdown field or dynamic dropdown widget. This is where you'll specify the data source for the dropdown options.

    Upload the Excel File:

Look for an option to upload or import data for the dropdown. You may find this under a section like "Data Source," "Options," or "Dropdown Values." Click on the upload/import button and select the Excel file you prepared earlier from your computer.

    Map Data Columns (if applicable):

If your Excel file contains multiple columns and you want to use specific columns for dropdown options, you may need to map the data columns. This process allows you to specify which column should be used for the dropdown options and, if applicable, for corresponding values.

    Apply and Save Changes:

After uploading the Excel file and mapping data columns (if necessary), apply the changes to save the data source for the dropdown field or dynamic dropdown widget. Verify that the dropdown options are populated correctly based on the data from your Excel file.

    Test and Validate:

Test the dropdown field or dynamic dropdown widget to ensure that it is functioning as expected. Verify that the options displayed in the dropdown match the data from your Excel file and that selecting an option works as intended.

By following these steps, you can effectively use an Excel file as the source data for a dropdown field or dynamic dropdown widget in your application or platform.

What I mean is that in the drop-down field, instead of manually setting-up and manually updating the drop-down selection list and data, if possible to upload via excel every updates instead of encoding, and the calculation values can be set to which column the calculation should be pulled. Please see the screenshot for my current setup:

Drop-down setup 1: If a name is selected, the department's field is automatically filled by the equivalent department per data setup:

Drop-down setup 2: If a name is selected in setup 1, the email address equivalent to the name selected will automatically filled the email field:

    Hi Pgctreasdisbursements,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, it isn't currently possible to dynamically update the options and calculation values added to the dropdown element. While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developers. When or if it's implemented depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

In the meantime, you can use the Spreadsheet to Form widget suggested by my colleague above as you don't have to manually add the new options and calculation values to the element and will only have to upload a new spreadsheet to the widget.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.
