How can I link a code field to a dropdown list?

I have a form that uses several dropdowns to collect user information. When I export the form data, I'd like to see a code returned for each text choice, rather than the whole entry.

    eg. "Corporate/General Manager" = A

         "Traing/HR" = B

I know I can stick the code letter at the head of each list item, then only look at the first character on export. I was wondering if there was a slicker solution.

    Thanks,

    Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, we do not have such an option.

Alternatively, you may try the following:

    1. Change the Drop Down options to corresponding code letters.

    2. Get your form source code.

    3. Copy that code to some text editor, and change the text for options.

    4. Embed updated form source to your web page.

In this way, you will get code letters (values) on your Submissions page.

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance.

    Interesting workaround.

And step 4 - if the form is hosted on jotform.com?

Do I upload the edited HTML to a new jotform?

    Thanks,

I am sorry, but this is not possible to upload changed code back to the JotForm form builder. You will need to add updated code to your web page.

Note: Injected CSS code may be added via form builder, but this is not working like this for scripts and form html.

If something is not clear, please let us know. We will be happy to help.

This will be hosted by your site, but submitted to our servers.
