    Form Background Not Showing

Asked by macpooh on December 17, 2012 at 11:54 PM

Alright, you need to change how this chat form is initially presented. I just typed the entire problem on the first popup box thinking it was live. Now I have to retype everything - very frustrating and a waste of time. Anyway, all of a sudden the background of the forms are not being displayed on our site. We have changed nothing on our end and the forms are simply embedded. I checked jotform.com and the background is visible on all our forms on your site so I can't understand what's going on.

Not that it matters but the background/theme is "Solid Form."

    Anybody there?

JotForm2: Hi, can you please provide us your website url where your form embedded to check your form?

    storyized.com

JotForm2: Can you please provide us the URL of your website where your form embedded?

    I just did

    http://storyized.com/order.htm

    http://storyized.com/contact.htm

JotForm2: Hold on please, let me check your form.

    http://storyized.com/e-card.htm

    JotForm2: Hi,

JotForm2: have you tried already re-embeding your form code into your website using iFrame? If not, can you please give a try?

I don't want to use an iframe and why don't see why this would make any difference. There has been no problem with the theme display for the past 4 or 5 months so jotform obviously has a problem that needs to be addressed.

JotForm2: Your form should be working fine by now. Please delete your browser cache/cookies then check your forms

I cleared all cookies then reloaded, no change.

    Still there?

    Anybody there??????

    Hi,

Can you please try adding this no conflict script on your HTML pages:

    <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery.noConflict() </script>

    Add this after the existing </script> tag on your pages;

Thanks and please get back to us for results.

OK, I added the string to the head section but there was no change. Since you are worried that there could be a conflict with the javascript, I removed it all together - again no change. I knew this was not the problem because that javascript had always been on the page and the theme had always been displayed. Again, nothing has changed on our website since the forms went in and worked properly. In fact, the website was built around the forms. When I was trying to get the problem resolved with the online chat tech support last night, the form on storyized.com/contact.htm was not displaying the theme at all (the same as the other forms) but the person did something that change it on that particular page. It is important to note that I did not not change any code on that page so it was something the tech did on the server side. Now the background is showing but not the buttons or input boxes. The problem is with your css but it is a recent
    development.

    Hi,

I just visited your contact form and I can view them fine here. This is how your form displays on my end.

Can you try clearing your browser's cache and cookies? See if that helps. The problem might be related to the image downtime which causes some of background images not able to display. But it should be fine now. Kindly recheck. Thanks!

    ---

FYI, there seems to be an intermittent conflict between the form and your page script which causes the form required field checks not to validate on its initial load. The best way to fix this is to re-embed your form using iframe embed code. Since form is called in iframe, it wont conflict anything on your page. Thanks!

The problem is not a browser issue nor a computer issue. I viewed the forms on several different computers (Mac and PC) and on several different browsers (Google, Safari, IE, Firefox) and could not see the form theme/background on any of them. Again, these were displaying the theme with no problems for months and we have made no changes to the code. The problem HAS to be on your end. Additionally, someone there had to have changed something because I have not altered one bit of code and now the theme is visible. Also, you say there is an intermittent conflict with the script on our webpages. That would mean that your script conflicts with html which is the only code being used on on most of our pages. Therefore your forms are unstable so we will have to reevaluate whether to purchase your service since we are still in the product development stage. Thanks for trying to address the problem.

    Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply, we appreciate that.

Actually I don't see any custom CSS injected on your form so I suspect the problem was related to the image downtime but it is fixed now, as you've just confirmed. Thanks and apologies for that.

Regarding on the conflict, I am referring to your scripts, the prototype.js, scriptaculous.js and lightwindow.js, we couldn't troubleshoot it further since the conflict is quite intermittent. It occurs on the first load of the page but when you do a refresh, it goes back to normal. This isn't really a form stopper since the form can perform well, however its required field validation might not work. The form stability is fine, it just can't do validations when a conflict occurs . We've suggested to use iframe in order to avoid any code conflicts.

    Thanks!

The scripts to which you are referring were only on one page (storyized.com/contact.htm) but none of the forms on any of the pages were displaying the theme.  and, in fact, those script were not even being called.  Their use had been discontinued and I just forgot to delete them from the head section on that ONE page.

You guys have a problem with the forms being unstable.  I see other people on the forum are experiencing the same problem of their skins/themes/backgrounds disappearing.  Tech support has told me that it is a script conflict which it is not.  The only code I have on the site, other than html, is a simple image preload javascript script.  However, giving you guys the benefit of the doubt, I removed this script, cleared the cache/cookies and refreshed the page - no change!  If it had been a script conflict, which I knew it wasn't, this would have eliminated the problem.  Tech support also suggested that I use an iframe to solve the problem.  Two things here:  first, this would only solve a script conflict which I proved it was not.  Secondly, if you are using expanding forms, an iframe is impractical.  I would have to leave room for all of the forms (4 very long forms) at full expansion making the page obnoxiously long which is why we are using the expandable forms in the first place.  Jotform really needs to correctly identify the problem and correct it or you will lose us, and probably others, as customers.  Please don't respond saying it's working now or that it was a browser or computer issue.  The skin was not visible on any browser (Google, IE, Firefox, Safari) or on any computer (PC and Mac).  Also, it is not a loading issue because the skin dissappeared sometime yesterday (or before) and it was still not visible this morning.

Please look at the other pages that contain forms -  storyized.com/order.htm, storyized.com/e-card.htm to verify what I am telling you.

We deeply apologies for the inconveniences you have faced.

Definitely, there was an issue from our side. As far as I understand, it was related to our Security proxy provider - Cloudflare.

Everything seems to be fine now. If something is not working as expected, please let us know. We will do our best to help you.
