How can I trigger the system to ask me to use my private key?

I cannot find a way to update the encryption key.  It needed to be changed and I can no longer read form submissions.  I have the key saved, it just needs to be entered.

    Thank you!

I assume you're implying that you wanted to use a different encryption key yet the system never prompts you to upload one.

To trigger the system to ask you that prompt to use your private key, you'd have to clear your browser's local storage. Alternatively, you can open Chrome Incognito (or Firefox's private window) and this should ask you to use your private key again.

thank you! I have tried this and it did not work.

It asked for a file, so I attached the file that contains only the letters/number/symbols for the key. Should there be a line above and below the key saying “—-Start key—-“ and “—-end key—-“ ? I can’t think of any reason why it isn’t working.

I have the same key for all my forms. Only one form is not allowing decryption. I’m confused.

You should not modify that key, mainly if you have already used it on multiple forms. If it is not working with only one form, I would suggest not changing the key and instead, do further testing in it.

Fill and submit the form with a test data, check the submissions page and provide the key. See if that works with your test. If not, please disable the encryption with that form and enable it again. This time, you'll be asked to get a key. Please choose to use your existing key when prompted, do not generate a new one.

One last thing, do you have a key prior to the current one that is working? If yes, please try that on the form that is not working with the current key.

Please update us here for the result.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this issue.  Unfortunately none of these solutions have worked.  I have disabled/enabled the key, had new forms submitted, and provided the existing private key.  I now am unable to read all forms - ones that had been saved and also ones that had been newly submitted.

Other than starting over, do you have any suggestions?  How can I prevent this from happening in the future?  I still don't understand what happened to cause this!

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Considering that you could not decrypt data for only one form, I can only assume that you created multiple keys and that you were trying to decrypt the data with the wrong key.

I would suggest you to check your downloads folder and try to find your keys there. If you find multiple keys, test them all.

If you lost your key then your data is also lost. More about encrypted forms, you can find here:
