I am using this widget in order for my users to select multiple locations. When they do so, I would like the selections to display on a separate line versus next to each other. How do I do this?

I assume you're referring to the submission data for this field. Sadly, widgets are treated as individual fields. This means that regardless of which widget you use (e.g. Checkbox in Dropdown, Infinite List, Configurable List, etc.), and no matter how many options there are within that widget, the data associated with it will always be considered and treated as a single piece of data (as a whole). That's the reason why you see the options selected next to each other in your submissions page, email notifications and all report formats.
PS. I would also like for the user to be able to type the partial name of the location and have the widget only show applicable choices
