I am having trouble retrieving my encryption key to read the form submissions

Dear Jotform support person

I created a jotform form to use for my parent child resource fair. I wanted to encrypt the data. I created a key. When I downloaded it, they key did not show up on my desktop. 

when I went to retrieve the data, I couldn't. I managed to find the jotform key, but it said the file was no longer there. I work with families for the military and I wonder if the extra security on my computer has compromised the way the key works. Can you help me figure out if I can use this feature? or if I didn't save the key correctly or whatever.

The key is stored on your download folder. You should be able to locate that through your browser.

If you have lost the key, I'm afraid you've also lost the submissions. There is no way we can decrypt the data since the key is critical to that. 

You can regenerate a new key that will be used for new submissions. To do that, disable the encryption in the form settings. Reload the form builder. Enable the encryption. You should get a prompt. Choose Jotform to get you a key.
