I need to format a calculated number so that it shows 'dot separated' thousands. I.e so that the number 2222 becomes 2.222, the number 222222 becomes 222.222 and the number 2222222 becomes 2.222.222 and so on

Is there a number format function for either the 'short text entry' field or the 'number' field to achieve this?

I would suggest you to please take a look at our "Masked Input" widget and see if that fits into your requirement. This will allow you to add thousand separator along with other settings. Please check the screenshot below:

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for that. It would have done the trick (I had actually tried that) but the 'masked input' field doesn't seem to accept calculated values from other fields. I ended up creating a set of masking rules using conditional logic where numbers higher than 999 and lower than 10000 got the mask #.###, numbers higher than 9999 and smaller than 100000 got the mask ##.### etc.

This way I managed to create the calculator I needed to calculate the cost of assistance for handicapped individuals in Icelandic krona (https://form.jotform.com/90644013686963)
