Cards forms: Short text entry - possibilty to break text in multiple lines when text is too long

    Hi there,

In using Jotform cards, I've noticed a UX issue that I'd like to request a fix for. In the short text entry cards, I believe the text entry field should expand downwards if you take up all the space for your answer.

Google Forms works this way on their short text entry, and the result is being able to see your full response.

Jotform currently doesn't work this way- you lose the early part of your response, and you can't fully see what you've written. I asked Mustafa (Jotform VP of Product) about this, and he let me know the team was working on a fix. Is this still something the team is working on? I think it'd result on a much better user experience. Thank you!

Would long text field work for you?

Since that field is meant to be used for longer entries:

From what I understood you would like to have something similar for short text field, to break into multiple rows, right?

    Hi there,

Good thought, but no, that will not work for me. Here's why- in the long text field, you cannot press the RETURN key to go to the next card. RETURN is a line break, which to me, ruins the experience and flow of the product. Requiring people to physically click the NEXT CARD button is not ideal on the long text entry card.

So on top of my suggestion, I would also ask for the ability to use the RETURN key to go to the next card, and use SHIFT + RETURN as a line break on the long text field.

Beyond that, I would also have to go back into 100 forms I've build, and replace every single short text entry with a long text entry card type, which is not feasible.

Short text cards will be used by form designers because they expect a short response, but you cannot know if the response will be short enough or not until the user fills it out. Thus, short text cards need to be flexible enough for at least some expansion.

Thank you for the additional feedback.

I will forward this to our backend team for possible implementation.

We will inform you via this thread if/when it becomes available.

    Thank you!
