I was trying to create an online application form for inviting applicaitons from prospective students for a scholarship. Each student should be able to enter their information and uplaod an essay into their individual designated folders once they login to the form. Could you please advice

It seems like a bit complicated but that's possible with Google Drive or Dropbox Integrations. Just create a form, add Upload tool found under Form tools and integrate your form to Google Drive or Dropbox, it's your choice but I would recommend using Google Drive.
When user fills and submit the form, a folder will be created on your Google Drive account (naming of folder can be set when you integrate your form to Google Drive) . This way you can easily share each Google Drive folder to your students email so they can check and access their files.
