This was set for specific time and date however when someone went to register before the cut off it showed that the registration for our conference was closed. is there a place where our forms are picking up a specific time zone and if so where do I set that so that this form status sets correctly when I want to disable it?
please advise.

Hi,
You can always verify the timezone on your account on the Account Settings, which will affect your form and submission time settings.
After logging in to your account, go to My Account Settings Page then you can change your time zone settings.
I hope this helps, let us know if you need further assistance.

I have it set at the correct timezone.
But in Form Status under settings, it asks for a time and date. It will not take the time and date I am setting.
It disables my registration form immediately.
