how do I pass additional Jotform information to Paypal

Asked by Daniellees on May 21, 2010 at 05:26 AM
No information about what product is selected seems to be passed through to Paypal, to it makes reconciling our paypal account a long and difficult process because the only data with each record showing in Paypal is 'Shopping Cart Payment Received'.

We use the jotform/paypal combination for many differerent types of products/services and donations, hence needing to know what it was for.

Is there any way to pass through this extra data?

    p.s. love the upgraded site!

It is possible to send some custom data with an order. We will look into adding a summary about the order there.

You should be able to see which product was purchased on the emails you receve from us and on the submissions page. This request was more about the paypal emails. This is still on our todo list. I increased its priority now.

I think I have a similar issue.  Does me no good to just get payment info.  I need all the information from the form, not just the items ordered.  For example, we have seminars for children.  The parent pays, but without the details such as child's name (often different from parent), we have no way to know who paid for whom.  Also, we need the extra info such as instrument played, what level, what piece will be played, etc.  Nee our entire form, not just the stuff ordered, to come through with the payment.  Can this be done?

This is something i'm wondering about as well. I setup a form to collect rent payment for certain properties. Well... i need to know which property was paid for and who paid for it.

    Thank you.

The time stamp on the Notification E-mail from Jotform is the same (give or take 1 minute) as the time stamp on the PayPal E-mail.

Can't you just match them up with each other? You can get all the detail you want in the Jotform notification.

    Hello deheacock,

This is still so far on the todo list.

    Hello David,

You mean to say the timestamp from your forms' submission is different from Paypal's submission payment, and you wish to have it the same for easier matching of order submissions in your form and Paypal payments, correct?

I will add this to our feature request todo list for our developers.

No, actually I ws suggesting that the solution to their propbelm was to simply get the detail from the Jotform Notification e-mail.

They can match the the 2 emails using the time stamps. Sorry for the confusion.

Alternatively, perhaps Jotform could simply add an order # to the transaction and send THAT to  PayPal (in a field that PayPal displays)

    Hi David,

A unique order # is a good suggestion as well. We have included it in the feature request for possible implementation by our developers. Thank you for sharing your ideas!

Has this feature been added to the system??? I have to compare hundreds of payments on the PayPal spreadsheet with Jotform spreadsheet. It would be great if the product info was imported to PayPal so that I can print the PayPal report and all info is on one spreadsheet... I'm surprised that this already a 'staple' feature...

    Hi Dave,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this matter. As of the moment though this feature is not yet available. We have a long list of feature requests and our developers are pretty much busy on reviewing and working on them. If and when this feature is implemented we will let everyone know by posting it on our blog.

    Thanks for using JotForm.
