    Asked by uicca on April 09, 2013 at 04:53 AM

    Hi,

    the drop-down lists:

    Comune di nascita, Comune di residenza, Luogo rilascio

    should contain these items: http://www.giovaniavventisti.it/temp/comunicazioni/comuni.txt, but lists are truncated when i compile the form in preview mode.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    @uicca

    I haven't checked all the values but i did checked it randomly and see that out 11012 option values the form displays only 2619 values.

    I am not sure how many records a dropdown box can possibly display. I am creating a ticket and forwarding your issue to our development team so that they can have a look.

    Thanks,

    Sidharth

    Hi.

    I will inform you that we need of this feature. This is the list of all italian municipalities. A lot of other websites use that list to fill in forms.

    Thank you for your support!

    If there's a limit for drop down list in JotForm a solution can be:

    if X < 500: show all;

    if X > 500: show the follwing: 1...500, 501, 1000, 10001....

    BUT how do that?

    @uicca

    Actually you can create multiple dropdown list and then show / hide these dropdown by using "Conditions".

    Please refer this guide for more information on Conditional Logic on Forms

    Please let us know if you need further assistance.

    Unfortunately, this feature crashes browsers that's why we need to truncate the data.

    That's not a good solution. We need to load that list that contains officlal information about all town in Italy.

    We must use it because we need right information about the town.

    We must choose another service on internet that permit to load big drop down list and I have discovered another service, so I must migrate all to the new one.

    Can you support me to avoid to cancel my account on JotForm? Thanks!

    Like it's been explained above, our feature currently crashes browser that's why data is truncated .

    However, there is a ticket open on this thread so that our developers can look into it further and improve it

    We have opened a bug ticket about it.

    I understand this feature is important for you. Can you split the data into multiple dropdowns for now?

    Yes, this feature it's very important for all italian users.

    I can't spilt the data into multiple dropdown lists because I need a unique list in the excel.

    I have tried other services and they offer no limit in the dropdown lists, please solve the problem as soon as possible to avoid me to migrate. Thanks

    @uicca

    I think, even if you split the data lists into multiple dropdown lists, you will still be able to retain the unique list. You will only need to name the dropdown list unique also (i.e. dropdown1, dropdown2...).

    The 1st dropdown will contain only the 1st half of the lists, the 2nd contains the 2nd half of the lists. This is assuming each of the items in the list is unique.

    It is possible that the form user will select from either dropdown the inappropriate data (which is possible also even if you are using a single dropdown list).,

    Also, although I am not sure yet how much lists the autocomplete field can have, you can also use this as alternative to dropdown field... the user will have to type a certain part of the list before they can select -- this will minimize clicking on the dropdown and searching for the item.

    The resulting submissions data will provide you a unique lists for each form responder.

    Hope this help. Inform us if you have further inquiry on this.

    Thanks.
