You have "Require Answer Every Row" on matrix. But not "every column".
I have a need for "every column". In my scenario, each row is a complete set. They can leave rows empty, but if they enter something in one column, then they must enter something in all columns for that row.
"Require Answer Every column" is not perfect, but it gets the job done.
(A better widget for my need would be a repeater, which others have requested elsewhere.)

Matrix input fields are grouped in rows not by columns so it may not be possible specially when you use check boxes and radio buttons. I couldn't even think how the script outline would look like. How about making the entire field as required instead? I think that would act slightly similar.
Let us know your thoughts. Thank you!

yes, i have it set to 'require one answer'.
jotform should not assume all users want matrices groupd in row. Some of us want grouped in columns.

I will forward this to our developers and hopefully they will be able to as well group the matrix input fields in column as well as rows.

We now have multiple options for what can make a matrix required:

Thanks for the heads-up.
Unfortunately, you still do not offer the one requirement requested in this thread.
Please see this form to get a better understanding of why i need to require "answer every column".
Does jotform offer a Repeater yet? That would solve this problem.

By Repeater do you mean autofill based upon previous responses? If so, no I don't believe we have that feature.
Regarding the required limitations, I reopened the ticket since it making matrices required by column was what was requested. If we're able to implement it, this form will be updated.

first, just want to say JotForm is the BEST! i've tried many form-builders, and jotform has the most awesome features. and, jotform tech support is fantastic.
a Repeater is not an autofilll based on previous responses.
A Repeater takes ANY control, and allows the user to repeat the control as many times as they wish. This would be an awesome feature!
It would enable form designers to achieve the behavior requested in this thread-- and much more. (Needs a 'Delete' button on each copy).

Matrix Dynamique does this:
Let us know if that will serve your purposes.
- bayviewboomAnswered on August 21, 2014 at 05:05 AM
wow, you added a lot of awesome widgets!
matrix dynamique looks like it will work, but does it have a bug? here's the demo. it won't submit with all fields loaded.
Also, the properties box and toolbar are missing the column settings. The column settings were there the first time i tried, but now gone:

You're right. I have forwarded that to our widget developers so they can check and fixed it.
For now, please try these alternatives.
Hope this helps!

Wow, those are awesome too. Configurable list is a true Repeater, because it can hold any type of control.
Hats off to JotForm, it rocks!
