Considering using JotForm but have a few questions

Asked by daveoreardon on May 07, 2013 at 08:08 PM

Having checked out half a dozen other form-builder and survey tools I stumbled across JotForm on Zapier.com. I'm hoping I've finally found a service that does everything I need. I want to use JotForm for customer surveys but I need to do the following:

    1. Email my customers with a JotForm URL that carries some additional parameters I would append to the URL, e.g. ?clientid=12345%email=john.smith@company.com%team=sap

    2. When the customer clicks on the URL the additional parameters get passed to the JotForm survey form but are hidden from the customer.

    3. When the customer submits their feedback, I use Zapier to insert the survey fields and the additional parameters into my MySQL database (I don't have to use Zapier if there's another way of doing this).

Can I do this with JotForm?

    Hi, daveoreardon,

    Regarding your questions

#1. Email my customers with a JotForm URL that carries some additional parameters I would append to the URL, e.g. ?clientid=12345%email=john.smith@company.com%team=sap

#2. When the customer clicks on the URL the additional parameters get passed to the JotForm survey form but are hidden from the customer.

Yes, you can accomplish this using Prepopulating the fields to your JotForm via URL parameters

See Here for More Details: http://www.jotform.com/help/71-Prepopulating-the-fields-to-your-JotForm-via-URL-parameters

#3.  When the customer submits their feedback, I use Zapier to insert the survey fields and the additional parameters into my MySQL database (I don't have to use Zapier if there's another way of doing this).

In addition to what Dinesh has answered to you, I think you can Insert/Update Submissions to Your MySQL Database Using PHP

Thanks guys. I got it working and I'm very happy. I was going to use Zapier to do this, but coding it turned out to be easy and quick.

I'm new to JotForm but I'm so glad I found it. I almost used Wufoo but JotForm is much better. Cheers!
