How do I a dropdown for Canadian provinces in address field for calculating taxes?

I need to charge taxes based on the shipping province of the customer. Since in the address object, I only have a choice of USA state drop-down or text box, I was wondering if I can add a custom province drop-down field in the Address object or if I have to build my address fields from scratch to have a custom province drop-down.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to add a list of options to the State/Province field in the address fields. However, in order to calculate taxes you may consider adding a separate dropdown field to display the list of provinces and select it from the payment field. You may disable the option to display the State/Province field in the address field.
