How do i force a check box to select based on an answer from a previous question.

Using image check box you will see i have placed in a check box with images using the widget.

I would like to know how to set the conditional logic so for example.

If you select "work at height" in the first question  - it will automatically check the following check box images:

    - Safety Boots

    - Hard Hat

I tried to do this but its not showing the multiple selection options in the calculation fields.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to select an element in the image Checkboxes widget based on users' selection. This would only work on regular checkboxes.

Let us know if you have more questions.

Upon checking, I have found that your form already has conditions related to your above request.

yes thanks i figured it out - however when setting up two conditions e.g. when to condition ALL match , it throws off all the other conditions check boxes and over rules them.

I have left the conditional logic in my form so you can see.

I have checked your form and it seems you have set your options to be selected by default.

Kindly remove the options selected so that the conditions will work.

Please give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Hi i am just updating this and i have removed the default checked items - however if i click both "electrical" and "ladders" for example in the "permit type required" field - it will remove calculated chcked boxed set up.

E.G. Electrical - if selected will auto check "Isolate electrics" , however if ladders is also selected it un-checks "isolate electrics" when this should remain checked.

Im not sure why its doing this - i have checked through and cant see how - but its also doing it for other selections.

I did check your form and found that you have added several conditions. Please note that when you add multiple conditions to insert / update value in the same field, one condition will always overwrite the updates of another condition.

Can you please list all the question of which will update the multiple choice question, and we will take a look?

We will wait for your response.

IF - PERMIT TYPE REQUIRED - IS Equal too:

    • Work at Height (MEWB)
    • Electrical

Check boxes (or calculate fields value):

    • Barriers
    • Safety Boots
    • Protection from falling objects
    • First Aid Controls
    • Gloves
    • Hard Hat
    • Safety Harness
    • Radio Communication with Banksman
    • Safety Glasses
    • High Viability clothing
    • Isolate electrics
    • No High winds
    • Area clear of waste
    • Item defect checked before use

This is all in condition 9 - however wen both work at height and electrical are selected the following do not check:

    • Protection from falling objects
    • Safety Harness
    • Protection from falling objects
    • Radio Communication with Banks man
    • No High winds
    • Item defect checked before use

    Thanks

even with "both" selected for the condition - it is still being overwritten by a single condition not included in the "both" selection. Please see condition 8 as an example. Although "both" are selected as a condition for the values to apply the check boxes its only picking up the values associated with "hotworks" and not "Work at Height"

It seems the issue is with your condition 6 or single conditions for your multiple choice field.

    1610126154 5ff8934a41c54 1 Screenshot 10

When the option "Electric" is selected, two conditions are triggered, condition 6 and 10.

    Once condition overwrites the other.

I would suggest you add another condition in your condition 6 to trigger the condition only when the option is not equal to the other 4 options.

    Here is a sample condition:

i cant seem to get that to work - i have tried to input condition 6 but i am not getting the same outcome.

Additionally this doesn't work when i select "hotworks" and "ladders" - one condition is still overwriting the other and i can not work out how.

What you can do is add additional rules to the conditions where if both work at height and electrical are selected, the following options will be checked. (additional rules make the conditions more specific and prevent conflicts between conditions.)

    • Protection from falling objects
    • Safety Harness
    • Protection from falling objects
    • Radio Communication with Banks man
    • No High winds
    • Item defect checked before use

    Example.- 1610395568 5ffcafb0af4e1 Screenshot 10

It is like having a conditional logic for each potential scenario.

Demo.- https://form.jotform.com/210105305929953 (You can test this to see if it works like you need it to.)

Obviously, you need to apply the same principle to other scenarios where you will select 2 or 3 options. Create conditional logic with rules that makes it specific to a particular predictable scenario.

    Example:

You may test the demo form (https://form.jotform.com/210105305929953) again to see if there is anything else you need help with.-

i have done the above and its still not working !

    https://eu.jotform.com/build/210072586887364#preview

e.g. if i click on hot works and work at height - instead of checking all that apply the hotworks requirements over rules teh work at height requirements.

I have set up the logic as you have said and this still happens and i can not understand why when yours works in your demo.

Hey - i think i have managed most of them now - there is just one which doesn't seem to work.

When i click work at height and electric permit - "isolate electrics" should also be checked but it is not.

This is the last one now that just doesn't seem to work :)
