How to replace a form field, with a new field, but not lose the data of the field.

I would like to replace a drop-down form field I used to use on a form, without losing the data of any previously completed forms.

For instance, in the form I want to replace the first field with a text box so that my customers can type in the name of the event, rather than selecting it from a drop list.

I tried to do this, however it said that I was going to lose all previously recorded data.

I don't want this to occur.  Is there anyway around that?

I am afraid that once you deleted the field, the data of that field will also be deleted aswell.

The best way to prevent deletion is to simply hide the field and add a new one that you are trying to replace it with.

But I highly suggest that you back-up the data so that you won't make any accident and lose the data..

If you need further assistance, kindly let us know so that we could help you.

    Thank you.

This can be done by injecting custom css to your form, could you copy and paste the form url so I can help you injecting the css code. Also I will need the name of the field that you need to hide.

You first need to find out the ID of the field to be hidden. Once that's been done, you can use a declaration of display: none; to hide the field.

    Please see this.

I can't see the dropdown field, anyway for example  if you need to hide the first textbox field of your form you should take a look at this guide How To Inject Custom CSS  and copy this code #id_23 {display: none;}  inside the css box.

    I hope it helps!
