I find the unique ID widget very disappointing. I cannot put the unique ID on my PDFs. I cannot use it as a unique identifier for Save&Continue. I cannot feed it into another field and then pipe that field onto other forms.

For us - we are trying to send JotForm documents to Docusign for legal signature. A unique ID would be very helpful for matching the docusign output to the Jotform PDF output. but we cannot do this. Is there any other way to create a completely unique ID so that forms do not get mixed up?

To clarify, are you referring to PDF form or PDF document?

It is possible to add the unique ID in the PDF document.

However, for the PDF form the widgets will not work.

I cannot use it as a unique identifier for Save&Continue.

You don't need the unique ID for the save and continue feature. An email is sent to the form respondents to continue the form progression.

You just have to enable the continue form later feature in your form settings.

I cannot feed it into another field and then pipe that field onto other forms.

Do note that the unique ID widget is generated when the form is submitted, therefore it cannot be used to pass to another form field using URL parameter

A workaround here would be to change the Unique ID to the random value generator widget to generate an id.

Please check it out and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the fast and informative response.

I am using PDF forms rather than PDF document so none of the widgets work although I have discovered that I can usually feed widget responses into a hidden short text field and then place that field on the form. This is not the case with the Unique ID but your responsehelped me to understand why this is the case  (id generated upon submit).
