In Visual Report, how to extend each graph's title?

Asked by marielkislig on July 24, 2013 at 09:51 AM

    Hiya,

My questions, which are quite long, don't entirely show up when creating my visual report.

What's the trick to extend each graph's title?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi,

Can you please tell us which of your form you are referring to that have longer questions. We will check further.

Normally, while in edit mode in the Visual report builder, you can drag the widget object handle at the corner to expand the widget's box. This will also allow longer title input box.

Hope this help. Inform us if you have further question.

    Thanks.

    Hello Jonathan,
    Thanks for your prompt feedback.
I understood how to extend the window but still the entire question doesn't come up... Can't insert a picture to show you though...
Thanks in advance for your help.
Also can you explain what the "entry limit" is? Cheers!

Hi! Entry limit is basically the number of choices to show in a visual report. For example you have a question (say, "What is your favorite color?") and there are 3 choices ("red, yellow, green"), if you limit the entry to 2, the graph will show only 2 entries (one color & a combined result of the rest of the other 2 colors labeled as "others"). Limit it to 1 and the only entry will be "others" (combination of all entries).

If you could provide us a screenshot of the report, that would be great so we can escalate this to our developers so they could fix it. Thanks!

    Hiya,
Thanks for the explanation for the "entry limit". Much appreciated!
    Here you go: http://www.jotform.com/report/31475256004044
You see most questions are cut off. And also the answers are not all showing up entirely (question 4.1 for example). Might be useful to be able to adapt those fields manually.
Also it seems I've reached the maximum length of the page and can't extend it more...
Furthermore when I print it, only the first page comes out (stops printing after question 3.3)
Another thing that I meant to ask you - it might be useful to know where the page ends/stars when placing the graphs on the white canvas (what about a doted line on the white canvas/page?)
Lastly, any chance to see in the future some more colors than yellow in the bar graphs?
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

I can see what you meant by the cut-off question in the Visual Report.

Unfortunatelly, this is a limitation on the report. Due to the unusual lenght of your field questions, the visual reporter tool had to condensed or cut-off the questions/labels to accomdate all the info into the single page.

The most I can suggest is, to try shortening your field questions.

    OR

You can also use other method of graph reports. The google spreadsheet  integration also have such reporting capabililty.

Also it seems I've reached the maximum length of the page and can't extend it more...

The Visual Report is actually only a single page. It is possible that the hardware printer settins is the one that is limiting the print preview in the report print output.

Furthermore when I print it, only the first page comes out (stops printing after question 3.3)  Another thing that I meant to ask you - it might be useful to know where the page ends/stars when placing the graphs on the white canvas (what about a doted line on the white canvas/page?)

Visual Report is only a single page, it is probably your priter settings that is causing this.

Lastly, any chance to see in the future some more colors than yellow in the bar graphs?

This is a good idea. May I suggest you create a separate topic for it, so that it can be submitted to our higher support team. Use this link to submit the idea https://www.jotform.com/contact

    Thanks.

    Thank you Jonathan!
    A couple more questions:
    - It's not only the answers that got cut off but the questions themselves (see question 3.3 at the end it says "when y..."). Instead of centering the questions in the middle of the graphs, what about starting on the left - when the "yellow bars" start?
    - I don't think that the problem of extending the actual page (white canvas) is related to the printer but your software. Let's say I had more questions in my questionnaire and therefore more graphs, you are telling me I can't even create a report long enough to put all my graphs on it because of my printer? Thanks for explaining this to me...
    - OK so the white canvas is one page but I'm sure you understand that any printer will have to cut it in numerous US Letter pages when you print your report out... Is there a way that those doted lines (or whatever lines, stars,...) show up every time we reach a US letter size while extended the white canvas?
    - Will mention the color idea on the link provided.
    Thank you!

    Hi Virginie,

Yes you are right, my initial screen I was only able to point out the answer, but the question do get cut-off also. Base on this new screenshot, you can see the difference between 3.2 and 3.3 question. The lenght of the question does matter...

I am not sure how your printer setting is, but on my printer preview, I can print all the 4 pages of the report https://www.jotform.com/report/31475256004044

Are you not able to print the same as this? (you can click on the image to zoom in)

    Thanks.

    Hello again,
    Thanks for your feedback.
I do understand that the length of the question matters - what I am asking you is if you can change the coding in your system so the visual report are created with the questions aligned on the left of the page rather than centered. Surely I must not be the only one complaining about this!
I still cannot print more than one page (first three graphs only) nor save it fully as a PDF. I am on MAC - maybe that changes the way your reports can be printed.
Anyway with the questions showing partly, I couldn't use the Visual Report as such and had to extract all graphs to a word doc and manually typed the questions inbetween the graphs. Just trying to make your tool more user-friendly for everybody that's all.
It seems you still haven't replied to my below question "I don't think that the problem of extending the actual page (white canvas) is related to the printer but your software. Let's say I had more questions in my questionnaire and therefore more graphs, you are telling me I can't even create a report long enough to put all my graphs on it because of my printer? Thank you
