Interfering conditions! Why? How? I can't fix it, please help!

Asked by lilymiller on July 25, 2013 at 02:39 PM

    Hi there!

For the life of me, I cannot seem to figure this one out.  I had the form working for a little bit (don't ask me what I did!), but now, one of the conditions won't reconcile.

It's a fairly simple form.  We give people four radio button options on how they want to receive our newsletter (electronically, by mail, both ways, or be removed).  The idea is that each button gives them a different piece of the form to fill out to make it easier and less time consuming.

I've managed to make it so that when they click "electronically", only the e-mail field shows up, and the mailing address fields are hidden (the phone and comments fields show up with everything, and that's ok).  I've also managed to make it so that when they click "by mail" the e-mail field is hidden and the mailing address field shows up.  Fabulous.  Super.  It all goes to pot, however, when they click the "both electronically and by mail" - I cannot, no matter what I do, make the e-mail field show up - and if I do make it show up, it doesn't show up when they click "electronically"!  I know that the two conditions are somehow interfering with each other, but I just don't know how, and it's driving me bonkers.  Please please help, and please tell me how so I can learn.

    Thank you so much!

    Thanks for contacting us.

Could you please take a look at this form if that is what you are looking for?

IF yes, let me tell you that I followed the steps in the next guide:

How to Hide or Show Multiple Fields at Once Based On a Single Conditional Entry

I also had to do some changes to the form, I added Form Collapses before the fields that would be hidden or showed, I also duplicate the fields Email and Mailing Address to show both and in that way avoid the conflict between the conditions.

The most important thing here is to follow the instructions of the guide, also you don't need to create accondition to HIDE a field as the collapse in Visibility Hidden will hide them, other wise it will get in conflict.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Yes!  Thank you!  Except, I accidentally added the number spinner...I was fiddling around...whoops. The only thing that is missing is we need to have the mailing address fields show up when they select "please remove me" so we can find them in our database.

I tried doing the steps using the collapses, but maybe I just totally didn't get it - which is entirely possible.  Perhaps once I see how you've done it, it'll make sense...is there a way for me to see that?

Thanks for getting back so quickly!
