    Reset the element numbering

Asked by scrupul0us on May 11, 2011 at 09:00 AM

I often create long forms that go through several iterations before my client(s) decide on one what suits their needs best.

By then the element numbering is completely scewed and out of order.

Is there a way to reset the element numbering/ordering?

This would make creating custom post-process much easier.

Thank you very much for a solid product =)

    Hi scrupul0us

Are you refering to the numbers automatically assigned to fields as highlighted in the accompanying screenshot of the "Compose Email" section of the notification (Email Alerts > Notification > Compose Email)?:

If so, to my knowledge, it is not possible without utilizing the full source code of the form and making the necessary changes there. (Even then, it might not work. I'll need to run a couple tests on that.)

When you view the source all the fields are numbered by the order you've dropped them in

If I go back after a lengthy form and insert a new field near the top my order may be 1,2,3,75,35,4,5,6 etc

It would be nice if the numbering *could* be reset to keep everything in order

Yes, I quite agree. The only practical workaround I can presently think of would be to confirm with the client that no further changes would be required and then build a totally new form that would be a copy of the original, except that the fields would now be numbered correctly.

To avoid such inconvenience in the future, I'll put in a request for the reset feature.
