    Google blocking jotform application signin

Asked by terriers on August 20, 2013 at 05:45 PM

We noticed that a new form is not sending confirmation or notification emails.  When I logged into the gmail account, I noticed an email from google saying they are blocking a suspicious application login.

What can we do to allow a login from us-app2.jotservers.com??

    Thanks!

Here is a snipet of an email we got from google...

We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

They are not allowing the emails to process, because they are blocking the login to the email account.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

We prevented the sign-in attempt in case this was a hijacker trying to access your account. Please review the details of the sign-in attempt:

Can you please tell us which "sign-in attempt" was being prevented on this message?

I am sorry, but I could not get much information that I can use to investigate further.

I will wait for your updates.

    Thanks.

Google blocked the signin to our email account.  The notification and auto responders are not working.  Above is all of the info Google provided.  What additional info are you looking for??

Hello, As my colleague has mentioned. This is actually an attempt from our JotForm App trying to access your forms for that very purpose to Confirm and Validate your Email. You would need to sign in and confirm it otherwise you won't be able to use it since Google would continue blocking it as you originally specified. That was a warning on Google's behalf because of the App Accessing it for your Account Protection.

I believe you are speaking of this as an Example:

The screen shots helped a lot. I found the recent activity and verified "this was me", but they are still not allowing access to the account.  Now what do we do??

Do you mean that you can not access your @gmail inbox through webmail (https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin) or there is something else? This is a new issue for us, so we will need to investigate it further.

I logged into the google account, clicked on the gear and found the account activity.  It is showing 4 entries of unusual activity.  8/16, 8/20, 8/20 and 1016 am today.  I acknowledge the 8/16, 8/20 & 8/20 as this is me and tried the form again.  This resulted in the unusual activity at 1016 am.

The form is processing with the exception of the email notice and auto responder.  Each time we fill out the form we are getting the unusal activity.

    Thanks for the help!

Hello, Google is known to be very Security Conscious as far as I know. Does the additional 1016am activity match the place of as with the rest of yours for location? Or is it different?

I've been doing some digging around on this with the Google Unsual Activity Alert and I came across a random location one this time from Texas. It only happened  after I started researching the SMPT Setup. Is this what you are using or what has set this off on your end? Any idea?

I have checked your account and found that you have a custom sender -  rm******@gmail.com. It looks like that the form is trying to send the message from your @gmail account, but the attempts are being blocked by your email account. You need to somehow 'trust' that activity in your @gmail account.

23.29.113.206 (us-app2.jotservers.com) - is our address, so you can trust it.

    Thank you.

I have done that for all of the 4 unusual activies mentioned above.  I just tried submitting the form again and again the emails did not send.  I got another unusual activity flag from Google and they blocked access.

I'm not sure what to do at this point.  Do we have to continue using our own outoging server for emails??

You don't necessarily have to use youroutgoing server for emails, you can use the noreply@jotform.com option while you somehow get google to trust the activity being made by using your gmail adress.

To change it back to noreply@jotform.com you can do the following:

Click Setup & Embed then Email Alerts

Open Notification, then click on Reply-To and Recipient Settings

Change the Sender E-mail to noreply@jotform.com and Sender Name to JotForm or to your preferred

    noreply

Below I'm appending an article that elaborates further on avoiding none-sent emails:
