Jotform Tables: CSV file for encrypted submissions is blank

Greetings. We are doing a proof-of-concept with Jotform, to see if it can meet our business need.

We've created a form that encrypts submitted data upon submission. I'd like to use a process to download decrypted data into a CSV (or Excel) file. However, when I select "download" from the Jotform Tables page - the data is still encrypted in the resulting file. Is it possible to download decrypted data to a CSV file, or can that be done with a Jotform report?

Is that after you provided the key to decrypt the submissions? I was able to download a CSV from a form with encryption enabled, and they're not encrypted. Note that only the CSV is available when the encryption is enabled.

Would you mind Removing the key, reload the form builder, upload it back to see if that will do it?

Thank you for the suggestion. Tried several variations of removing/adding back the private key but still same results.

After you mentioned it worked for you - I created a new encrypted simple form (with about 5 fields) and was able to download and see the data in Excel. So I wondered if something just got corrupted in my original form, so I recreated it again from scratch ( new form - https://form.jotform.com/203024850562044) but still same result.

When I login to the portal I can view the data, but when I'm in the Tables section (or in My Forms and select Submissions - which takes me to the Tables section) and I select download all from the right side - it downloads an empty spreadsheet (CSV file) with only headings. When I create a report (CSV download) and download that it downloads the data but most fields are encrypted in Excel.

I have to admit I'm about to give up on Jotform unless we can resolve this soon or do some type of screen share to resolve.

I was able to replicate the blank CSV file, it's just the headers are there.

I have escalated this ticket to our developers for further review on this matter. Once we have an update, you'll be notified here.

Note that for encrypted forms, Excel and CSV reports are two of the features that are disabled. To download, it should be done on the submissions page (Jotform Tables), and it will only download as CSV, with no Excel and PDF options.

In the meantime, consider disabling encryption in the form.

    Thanks

Greetings. We're unable to disable encryption because sensitive data will be entered. We're currently testing the Jotform platform as a proof of concept.

Do you have any guess how long it might take the Jotform developers to resolve this bug? In order for us to use Jotform it will support enterprise and customer-facing applications, so would need confidence that issues can be resolved quickly.

    Thank you.

I understand, but unfortunately, we do not provide any timeframe for each ticket that is escalated. Our developers are handling tickets based on their priority and sometimes based on the number of similar tickets being raised by the support team. We'll keep you posted for sure.

If sensitive data, particularly for health information, we have HIPAA that does not require encryption as it is already part of its features.

    https://www.jotform.com/hipaa/

HIPAA only needs a Silver or Gold subscription.

Also, you've mentioned Enterprise. We have an Enterprise system that offers Phone support. If you are interested, contact our Enterprise Sales Team through this page https://www.jotform.com/enterprise/.

    Thank you.

    Hello Tim,

We're sorry for the inconvenience. The was related with "#" characters in your columns names and it's fixed now. You should be able to download your data as CSV after decryption process is completed. Could you please try it again and let us know?

    Thank you.

Hello Hasan – it’s getting better and I think we’re really really close!
When I download the table using the “download” button on top-right I get correctly decrypted data!
    [cid:image005.jpg@01D6C7D0.AB94A9A0]
    I
did notice an issue with record selection using that download button… I have 3 test records in the table and when I select any number less than the full table it still downloads all 3 records in the table. For example, I have 3 records and I selected 2 of them (checkbox on left) and even though it shows “2” in the download button – it still downloads all 3 records.

However, if I choose “download as CSV” from the table tab at top – it does download the correct number of records (2 in this example) but it does not decrypt them.

I also noticed the “CSV Report” does not decrypt.
We expect to have about 200 new records each week so will need some automated way to select which we download to import into another billing application. I need to find a set of records – either selected or by date or by not starred, etc. – for input into that billing application, so am looking for the best way to do that. It doesn’t appear that the table view can filter by “starred” records or “yesterday” for the date… then I’d need the download button to just download those records. Or do you have a suggestion for the best way to select, download, and decrypt a set of records, then identify records that have already been downloaded so they’re not included in the next download?
    Thank you!
    Tim

    Hello Tim,

That's part of the restriction with Form Encryption - that you can only download the data through the submissions/tables page. You can't have it with CSV Export.

I've noted the filtered download and the download through the tab. I have them in separate tickets below.

    Download All button: https://www.jotform.com/answers/2737463.

    Download option (at tab): https://www.jotform.com/answers/2737464.

    I'll be on both shortly.

    Thank you for reporting.
