    Forms Security

Asked by Jeffrey on September 13, 2013 at 08:33 PM

    Dear JotForm Support,

We are considering using your service, and I'd like to verify the security functions of your forms.

We are five preschools, so our customer base is parents, and we'd like to a have one form for each of our five schools, accessible on our website.

    So I have two questions:

    1) Does the monthly $9.95 fee get us enough space for five online forms? We probably would have a few hundred inquires using the forms at most per month.

    2) Are these forms completely secure, such that if someone sends forms through jotform.com they will not be able to be traced by a third party? This is very important, as our reputation with our parents depends on that their information is secure from third parties and hackers.

    Thank you,

    Jeffrey

    Hello Jeffrey,

    1) Does the monthly $9.95 fee get us enough space for five online forms? We probably would have a few hundred inquires using the forms at most per month.

With the $9.95  plan you would have access to create unlimited forms, and 10GB of space for file uploads. Allow me to highlight that this plan allows you to receive 1000 Submissions per month.

    2) Are these forms completely secure, such that if someone sends forms through jotform.com they will not be able to be traced by a third party? This is very important, as our reputation with our parents depends on that their information is secure from third parties and hackers.

Generally standard forms created are not secured by default. But you can enable SSL (Secure Socket Layer) Encryption Protocol on all your forms. Making your forms more than than secure to transmit personal information as to avoid third parties & hackers.

Hope this clears your doubts. If you need additional assistance, do let us know. Thank yo for considering JotForm!

    Hello Cesar,

Thank you for the information. As a follow-up to my question about secure forms, is there technical support that helps with the SSL Encryption protocol? Based on your response that the forms are not inherently secure, I'd probably need some help as I'm not a programmer. This question of security is a very important one for our business, which is one reason I'm rather cautious on moving forward with using online forms in general.

    Thanks,

    Jeffrey

    Hello Jeffrey,

All forms can be used as secured forms. It is a very simple process. Basically what is done to is we can serve the same form using standard protocol or serve the form through a secured, encrypted server.

    Standard Form

    http://form.jotform.co/form/32597303036856

    Secured Form:

    https://secure.jotform.co/form/32597303036856

As you can see the URL changes depending form which locatio is the form being served. In case you need to embed your code on to your website, you can easily conver the standard embed code into secured embed code. Kindly watch my screencast linked below to view how this is accomplished:

    Screencast

To get you SSL Secured Embed Code (or to get your SSL Secured Form Link)
Click on Embed Form on the top toolbar of your Form Editor.

    1

Check on the Secure form checkbox to retrieve teh secure form link.

Hope this clears your doubts. If you need additional assitance. Do let us know.
