Minimum number of letters or words in required field

Asked by pepjf on October 03, 2013 at 02:13 PM

I have some fields in my form and I wanted people to explain themselves rather than just providing 2 word answers, how can I make a minimum word requirement?

Unfortunately, requiring a minimum letters/words in our text area field is currently not possible in our form builder. That is somewhat possible by getting the form source codes (How to Get Form Source Codes) and adding custom Javascript that would do the limit. However, this requires you to use the modified source codes rather than using the form direct link or iframe codes.

You can save this modified source codes as an HTML file. Like this method? Let us know and we'll do it for you.

Here is a working example: https://shots.jotform.com/welvin/pages/limit-required-words.html

Adding the minimum required would be a great feature to have,  and i'm sure it's not super complicated to do on your end
