    Savable Data Gone

Asked by 140ology on October 11, 2013 at 09:54 AM

    Hello,

We have a savable form that we use often for our clients to send us content to build their website. A client has been working for about a month on the data and was almost complete.

They when back in today and all of their data has been errased. They never got to the submit submit button so we didn't receive the data.

Is there anything that we can do to retreive this data?

    Thanks for contacting us Brian.

We are truly sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused. Is this the form you are talking about http://www.jotform.com/32063578868164?
If so, could you please confirm if you have implemented our How to save form to continue later? workaround? If so, there must have been a change in the "session" as I test your form but my data was not saved.

Please make sure that your form is following the steps of the guide. However, we have added an AutoFill Feature which will allow to save entered data without having to apply the How to save forms to continue later? workaround. Please find the guide at the next link: How to Enable Auto Fill Feature | Save Form Entries to Continue Later.

But if you are not using any of the previous method, could you please explain us what you mean when you say "A client has been working for about a month on the data and was almost complete" in this way we will be able to further investigate about this issue.

    Thanks

    Hey,

Yes, we have implemented these methods with many different forms and have been successfully using it for a few months on a couple of different accounts.

The client in question began using this savable form about a month ago. I went to the session ID URL of this form 2 weeks ago and the form was about 1/2 complete. The client went back to the URL this morning and all of the data has disappeared.

I hope this clarifies your questions.

It sounds like you were using our Old Method of the Save & Continue which my colleague above first asked about that allows you to return to it via some url parameters IE; the Session ID that you mentioned.

By any chance are you able to provide us the link to this Submission that was supposed to be used to saved and continue to? If not then are you able to provide us with any information pertaining to it so that we can look into trying to figure out what happened.

It's a bit hard to say right now without knowing more information on which submission this was. I know for a fact that if you are using the newer AutoFill Method to Save and Continue then this would be expected to happen if a user cleared their browser cache before returning to the form since the data is saved on their end in a cookie. However, Upon using the Older Save and Continue Method with a Session ID it works a bit differently to return to it via a link instead. So because of that perhaps the data was either finished or deleted and forgotten about possibly. If you can provide us with any additional information it would very much be appreciated in regards to this submission.
