    How to edit the form error warnings? It messes up my form

    Asked by DigitusMarketing on November 08, 2013 at 11:48 AM

    Hello,

    I was requested to provide my question via here, so here it is.

    Would like to know if i'm able to edit the error tags and how.
    Now, when people click the first input, and than the second. It just displays the error tag which screws the entire form.

    Help would be appreciated :)

    Thanks for posting  your concern here on the forum.

    If the error tags are misplacing your form fields, can you please embed the form using the Iframe method. This should prevent any conflicts that may interfere with JotForm code.

    If that does not fixes it, can you please provide us the webpage where your form is currently embedded? This will help us in our investigation on what went wrong on your form and in order to better assist you if it can be achieved without editing the error tags.

    We will wait for your reply. Thank you

    I tried using the iframe method, but this provides the same result.

    When i click a text input and dont fill in anything and click another text input, it just displays the error tag and it wont get removed by clicking an other input.

    I've put it on this page: www.digitusweb.nl/anytimetab
    I hope you can help me asap :)

    Hello DigitusMarketing,

    I'm sorry for the trouble caused to you.

    I am not sure if I have understood your question completely. When you have multiple required fields and you do not input and value and move to next field, it will display the error message and it will remain as it is until you come back to that field. I believe that is the default behavior.

    I believe you are having problem with the pink background effect of error message which must be changing the layout of your form. If that is correct, you can inject the following custom css in your form to hide the background effect:

    .form-line-error {

    background:none repeat scroll 0 0;

    }

    Here is a guide which should help you inject the custom css in your form:  http://www.jotform.com/help/117-How-to-Inject-Custom-CSS-Codes

    Here is a sample form which I have created for you. have a look and you will see the effect of above mentioned custom css: http://form.jotform.co/form/33312404339850?

    Do get back to us if there is something else which you want to achieve in your form.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

    thanks for your quick reply. But shouldnt the error tags pop up when submitting the form with empty fields? That is what i am goaling for which is the normal behaviour of a form..

    It's not about the background or what so ever. I just don't want the error tags to pop up whenever i click the field and go to an other field.

    That would require a change on the javascript of the form. But, you can do it. You can get the full source code for the form and then edit the javascript code and remove the checks.

    Another idea. Maybe we should fix the reason it messes up your form.

    Is this the form "Title me" form? The form becomes larger if you forget to fill a question. If you are including it in a location on your site that has static height that might be the problem? Is that the problem?

    If you can post a screenshot of what you mean "it messed the form" we can look into finding a solution for it.

    Thanks.

    Im talking about these error tags: http://screencloud.net/v/yFcl

    They shouldnt pop up when 'leaving' the input field without filling it in.

    I think it has something to do with the javascript file that is included. I found this in the source code:

    ,generalError:'There are errors on the form. Please fix them before continuing.',generalPageError:'There are errors on this page. Please fix them before continuing.'}

    I think the problem lays here.

    I'm sorry i meant these lines:

    if(jQuery(pad).jSignature('getData','base30')[1].length==0){ret=false;if(w.find(".form-line-error").length==0){w.append('<div class="form-line-error" style="float:left;">'+'<div class="form-error-message">'+'<img src="//mustafa.jotform.pro/images/exclamation-octagon.png" align="left" style="margin-right:5px;">'+'<div class="form-error-arrow">'+'<div class="form-error-arrow-inner"></div>'+'</div>'+'This field is required</div></div>');}}else{w.find(".form-line-error").remove();}}}}}

    It says to remove the error tag, but that is not the case.

    @DigitusMarketing

    They (error/warning massage) shouldn't pop up when 'leaving' the input field without filling it in.

     - Aside from editing your form source code, I suggest you to use custom css to hide warning/error messages.

    Please take a look at this form how it works: http://www.jotformpro.com/form/33313892041953

    CSS code:

    .form-line-error .form-error-message {

    display: none;

    }

    Feel free to contact us again if you need further assistance.

    BTW, i've searched quite a while. Where can i translate the text "these are errors on the form. Please fix them before continuing"?

    @DigitusMarketing

    The translation of the warnings is a somewhat different topic to that being discussed here. As such, please see my reply in this thread.

    Thanks
